A blog dedicated to Roleplaying Game Maker XP, a game-making engine created by Enterbrain. The goal is to provide you with resources and help for making your own roleplaying game!My original plan was to start with the very basics, however, a friend of mine wanted help with this specifically, and so I figured I may as well make a post for it!
I’ll be teaching you how to important a graphic, using a tileset as an example.
Step one, open up the Material Base.

Step two, click Import.

Step three, then you have to sift around your computer until you find the file you’re looking for. Open it.

Step four, set the transparency color. Alternatively, you could create a graphic with a transparent background, but this is usually easier. Left-click on the background color in your graphic Very important: it has to be ONE VALUE. The value that you’ve selected will vanish once you import it. Because of this, DO NOT USE .JPEGS FOR YOUR GRAPHICS. (I used to try to do that. Let’s not talk about it.)

Step five, set a semi-transparency color. This color also has to be ONE VALUE. However, this one does not vanish - it appears transparent. This is ideal for shadows.

Then, viola, you have your new tileset imported and ready to use!

Note: This does not only apply to tilesets! It applies to pretty much every type of graphic - except perhaps animations.
Quick Summary:
(I hope this made sense! Feel free to ask me about any questions you might have. I’ve never made a tutorial before, so…)
